Pharmacists

Mr Ali Abass MPharm

​

Pharmacists are healthcare experts who can give you clinical advice about all sorts of illnesses, right there and then.

Ali completed his pharmacy degree from The University of East Anglia in 2010. He joined the register in 2011 working in the Dorset area as a community pharmacist. Ali has also held senior commercial positions in large pharmacy companies as well as sitting on the Local Pharmacy Network in Dorset. He joined Downton surgery in 2018 and has just completed his independent prescribing course with a special interest in anticoagulation and pain management. 

He lives in Poole and enjoys spending time with family, cooking and cycling.

Community Midwives

The midwife team will see you in the community, but ante-natal appointments unfortunately cannot be squeezed into our small building. To call them, ask at the hospital 01722 336262 or alternatively via Ambulance Control on 01249 651271 (open 24 hours).

Community Nurses (the Neighbourhood Team)

The nursing team provide nursing care to our patients who are confined to their homes. Messages can be left on 01722 425166.

Health Visitors

The health visitors can be contacted 01722 425146. Messages can be left on the answerphone at other times. They are available to give advice and support on all aspects of child health and development. Developmental assessments may be arranged at various ages. Guidance is also offered to all age groups, especially on family issues, the disabled and the bereaved.

Attached Staff

Physiotherapy Clinics are held at Salisbury hospital and occasionally at the surgery. The doctor will refer you to these.
